"Smile Now - Love Forward" Community Support Program

Funded by 'The Link Together Initiatives', the YMCA of HK is encouraging members of the needy families to be more involved in the community through the distribution of food, toys and joining the "family bank" dreams realization support service with the introduction of a mini-service van. Besides being a good community partner, the mini-service van is also creating an innovative platform for community participation for individuals, families, NGO and commercial partners. Furthermore, it will help promote caring messages of 'Community Participation', 'Community Building', 'Family Assistance' and 'Environmental Education' to the community.

'Body', Food Redistribution Service

In particular evening hours during the week, we go to different markets to collect leftover fruits, vegetables and bread. After re-packed by our volunteers, they will be distributed to the needy families for free at a designated community service point. Meanwhile, we will recruit community volunteers from service users directly to share messages of 'Community care' and 'Save food' Reduce waste' to other community members. Also, related environmental workshops will be held to the community then. The project has collected over 10000 kg vegetables and served over 800 families so far.

'Mind', Toy Redistribution Service

In particular evening hours during the week, we go to a designated community service point to give out education toys and games to children from needy families for free. Families could get toys by completing some special tasks or exchanging their own toys. Meanwhile, we will recruit community volunteers from service users directly to share messages of 'Community care' and 'Recycling' to other community members. The project has collected over 8000 pcs of toys and served over 400 families so far.

'Spirit', Family Dream Realization Support Service

Families could participate in the 'Family Bank' service at different designated community service points. Resources and talents are welcomed to be transferred to the needy families to realize their dreams. In return, service users would commit to input voluntary service hours and talents to reward the community.
