YMCA Around the World

The YMCA of Hong Kong is excited to again be offering its International Camping Programmes this year. We are offering NEW Camp opportunities to join in a YMCA experience like no other. The YMCA of Hong Kong Camping Section is working together with YMCAs around the world including  the YMCA of Greater Vancouver, Canada, the YMCA of Penang, Malaysia and the Lakeside YMCA National Centre, UK, to make this wonderful camp opportunity possible.

Programme Overview

In each camp session, children will be involved in excellent programmes including activities such as waterfront sports, creative arts, environmental programmes, tent camping and evening campfires. They share cabins and participate in the programmes alongside children their own age from all over the World. English is the language of instruction throughout the camp, so your children will also get lots of practice speaking English over the summer. Local Hong Kong staff will lead the campers while traveling to overseas, and share in their experiences while at camp. This programme will help build your child’s confidence, independence and knowledge of other cultures in an experience that will last a lifetime!

International Summer Camps

July 17 - August 01 - YMCA Camp Elphinstone (Vancouver, Canada)

Since 1907, Camp Elphinstone has been guiding young people through experiences that have created memories that last a lifetime. Located 1 hour from Vancouver, Camp Elphinstone is surrounded by natural rainforests, quiet creeks, and rocky ocean shoreline. Campers stay in clean, comfortable cabins with other campers of their own age and gender, and participate in a wide variety of traditional camp activities.

Campers will be given the opportunity to experience all of the activities that Camp Elphinstone has to offer with a balance of personal choice activities and cabin based programs. Cabin activities will be lead by Group Leaders who will guide them through stages of small group development in order to achieve a sense of belonging and community within the section. Activities include sailing, kayaking, canoeing, tennis, hiking, swimming, day outtrips, ultimate frisbee and 2 or 3-day outtrips.

July 31 - August 14 - YMCA Camp Erdman (Hawaii, USA)

Established in 1925, Camp Erdman is located on the North Shore of the Island Oahu, Hawaii. Nestled between the foothills of the Waianae Mountain Range and the pristine shores of the Pacific Ocean in Mokuleia. Camp Erdman is the main filming location of the popular television series "Lost".

Besides all the regular campsite activities such as kayaking, archery, and adventure activities, campers will participate in an island adventure to visit the infamous Pearl Harbour, the Sea-life Park and enjoy a Hawaiian Luau.
